Magical Ecosystem: building purpose and brand to transform the territory

In a country where public conversation often revolves around large cities, tech hubs, or innovation centres, it's hard to remember that a large part of Spain is made up of small municipalities and regions that sustain culture, tradition, landscape, and a way of life.

For years, many of those territories have been viewed through a limited lens: as places with needs, deficiencies, or urgent issues to manage. However, when you look more closely, another question arises: what if the villages were, in reality, a huge opportunity for the country?

The Magical Ecosystem

This is the starting point of the Magical Ecosystem, an initiative driven by the Spanish Magical Towns Association, which had been building prestige, recognition, and territorial presence for some time through its municipal certification programme. With more than 150 member towns and growing visibility, the project had consolidated a respected brand. But its natural evolution – the creation of Magical Places y Magical Companies– presented a greater challenge: how to articulate it all under a coherent vision that explained the project's real scope and the role of each of its lines.

The strategic challenge: to organise, unify and build the brand.

When MIG PRISMA joined the project, We found a strong, well-positioned parent brand but surrounded by two new initiatives that did not yet have a defined place within the whole. It was necessary to structure, unify, and build a narrative that would allow the Ecosystem to grow as a solid and comprehensible structure. The work began by defining a brand architecture that made sense for each vertical and, at the same time, respected the trajectory and weight of "Pueblos Mágicos" (Magical Towns), an initiative with relevant territorial presence and recognition that should not be diluted.

This exercise made it possible to identify the common purpose that underpins the three brands and which today constitutes the core of the Ecosystem: Territory as a space for the future, as an opportunity and as a driver of talent, investment and sustainable development. Not as a place to “help,” but as a place to activate.

From strategy to story

From that central idea, we developed a narrative capable of explaining not only what each vertical does, but why the entire project exists. This narrative was then transferred to a set of strategic tools designed to support the expansion of the Ecosystem.

But beyond the pieces, the value of the work lies in having contributed to the project being able to be explained, understood, and projected as a movement with direction and ambition. A movement that doesn't remain rhetorical, but aspires to generate real impact in the municipalities: from attracting businesses to activating investment, from creating collaborative networks to reinforcing local pride.

Our role

Accompanying the evolution of the Magical Ecosystem has been an opportunity to put into practice what we deeply believe: that territorial development needs purpose, strategy, and narrative. That brands are not just visual identities, but structures that enable people to be mobilised, give meaning to initiatives, and generate lasting change.

The path continues, and it does so with a stronger foundation and a clearer vision. From MIG PRISMA we will continue to work alongside the Magical Ecosystem to reinforce its growth and transformative capacity. Because when the territory is organised, explained, and activated with coherence, what previously seemed small becomes a big idea. One that can move an entire country.
