How could we not love the Tengo Hogar Foundation so much

On the eve of the celebration of World NGO Day, we want to share this social initiative with which many things connect us, above all, admiration for the goals it pursues and for the real and tangible help it provides to families at risk of poverty and social exclusion. It is the Tengo Hogar Foundation, with which MIG and its participating companies collaborate financially and materially to add our small but significant contribution, minuscule compared to what its promoters carry out.
On Foundation Have Home, established seven years ago, focuses on revitalising lives, an effort that has been stepped up in the wake of the pandemic, which has led to a fall in household income of between 50% and 70%. They do not focus on providing families with material resources, but rather on offering comprehensive support based on the principle that every person they assist is the protagonist of their own story and their own transformation. The Foundation merely provides a helping hand, convincing them that together we will move forward.
When we found out about this initiative, we did an internal presentation with its President and many colleagues' eyes were seen red through Teams when hearing the description of the situations they were addressing. That day, we felt a strong desire to help and to learn in more detail what was behind the initiative and how we could help.
A reality we don't want to see
Esther Macías, Social Action Co-ordinator for the Tengo Hogar Foundation, recently told us how tough these times are for Spanish families, but also how in these moments of crisis, solidarity knows no bounds.
Currently, the organisation has adapted its approach to serving the more than 90 vulnerable families with which it works via the internet, for which a hundred were delivered digital devices, computers and tablets and provided homes with WIFI connections. In this way The education of over 150 children has been guaranteed.
Furthermore, they have provided over 600 food aid packages, leisure activities, and even facilitated participation in family occasions through menus from collaborating restaurants Temporary accommodation.
But Esther also told us how difficult 2021 is going to be. Every day more families are on the brink of exclusion. Finding work and achieving economic stability will be a tremendous challenge for many people.
Their world versus our world
In our world of remote working, Teams, Salesforce, SaaS, innovation, digital transformation, campaigns, targets, demand, etc., Esther brings us back to reality: one of her main areas of work in 2021 is break digital divide. Once connectivity and devices have been provided, the aim now is to offer “virtual content to make the most of the tools: after-school support classes, workshops for children on science, culture, sports, creativity, museum visits, games, among other activities,” states the Tengo Hogar coordinator.
Children at the centre of everything
One of Tengo Hogar's main tasks is to ensure that the children in the Foundation have all their needs met. To achieve this, one of the primary ways of working is through leisure and educational activities.
The activities they carry out focus on enriching and contributing to the development of minors during the time their families are in a period of professional growth.
We hope we've helped you understand a bit better how the world is moved by hearts like those behind Fundación Tengo Hogar. Be encouraged and support the initiative. We won't change the whole world, but we'll be a little closer to doing so.
